Take Me to Your Leader

Who is the leader of the Republican party? Is it fat cat Rush Limbaugh, king of the conservative talk show radio waves, or is it Michael Steel?

I don’t really have an opinion about Rush Limbaugh because personally all he is to me is an entertainer like Howard Stern. Yes, I said Howard Stern because he is the other shock jock for which so many are loyal fans and listeners. Can you imagine if Democrats started calling Howard Stern the leader of the Democratic party? It is absurd to me that some would say that he is the leader of the Republican party…he is just another entertainer tickling the ears of those who think he is “oh so powerful.” Is he powerful? Does he energize the base? Well, what do we mean when we say “energize the base?” Is it the “base of the Republican party” or is it just “the base?.” Here is the ‘other’ definition of “base” in the online dictionary:

base 2 (bs)

adj. bas·er, bas·est

1.

a. Having or showing a contemptible, mean-spirited, or selfish lack of human decency. See Synonyms at mean2.
b. Devoid of high values or ethics: a base, degrading way of life.
c. Inferior in value or quality.
2. Containing inferior substances: a base metal.
3. Archaic Of low birth, rank, or position.
4. Obsolete Short in stature.
n. Obsolete
Since I don’t have an opinion of Rush Limbaugh I’ll leave room for all of you to give me your opinions…I’ll just translate what I see on the news into quirky all too familiar cartoons and a video:
Oh and then there is this cute video:

Being the radical San Francisco lefty that I am–of course, I can’t stand Rush Limbaugh.

What I really don’t get, though, is why Obama has decided that this BOZO is worth one iota of his time! He seems to be taking on Rush and I can’t for the life of me figure out why he would–because in a way, that does validate him–or at least it would validate Rush to *some* people.

To me, Rush Limbaugh is just another hypocritical, insufferable windbag. Nuff said. :)

    Hi Melinda,

I never listen to Rush Limbaugh, that’s why I don’t have an opinion of him. LOL I have heard the snippets that the media loves to play over and over, but I’m more curious about the people that actually do listen to him. I often wonder how gullible people can be. To me he’s like Ann Coulter…a brilliant entertainer who monetarily thrives off of controversy. It’s their bread and butter.

I also think if Obama gives him the time of day it shows more class on his part and to me it would show that Obama values even those who do not agree with his policies. Rush is a reflection of a certain type of people, but is it necessarily the content of Rush’s message that gets people energized, or is it the fact that he says things with conviction? Is it the message or the conviction and assertiveness with which he speaks? When we look at Obama, who won’t admit that he is a great speaker? Everyone can feel the energy…even those who don’t agree with his message. I don’t agree with many things that this administration is doing, but I do respect him.
Maybe people just revel in the idea of Rush, living vicariously through his tenacity.

I agree with some things Limbaugh says about liberals, and I agree with liberal criticism of republicans—the problem is they don’t accept the truth about their own parties.

Rush says he wants Obama to fail because it undermines the constitution (and he is absolutely correct in his assertion). But where was he when George W. Bush ruined this country? Where was he when Bush basically pissed on the constitution? Where is Obama in rejecting these unneeded gargantuan spending packages?

Anyway, I do agree with Melinda, he is a stuffy windbag—the poster boy for hypocrisy.

I’ve been so utterly burned out on blogging and I apologize for not visiting more often. I took a short break because it takes so much time to blog and comment lol:)

    Hi Bobby,
Actually I’ve been pretty sick, and barely do what I need to do online everyday. I haven’t been able to get to more than a few blogs myself. Hopefully I’ll be better in a few days.

Don’t get burned out my dear!
